AS Monaco are set to trigger the purchase clause in Ansu Fati’s (23) loan move from Barcelona, according to a report from The Athletic. The Spanish international attacker had an €11m purchase clause inserted in the loan move that saw him join Les Monégasques until the end of the season.
Fati’s time on the Côte d’Azur is set to be extended with the Ligue 1 club aiming to keep him by triggering the purchase option. The Spaniard made 30 appearances across all competitions for the Principality club last season, scoring 12 goals.
The Athletic understands that the former Brighton loanee hoped to return to his boyhood club when he found out that Barcelona were aiming to sign a new left winger during the summer transfer window. However, the La Liga giants have already confirmed the arrival of Anthony Gordon, meaning any opportunity of a return has been severely reduced.
