Barcelona make progress with Manchester City but Rodri deal still not done | OneFootball

FC Barcelona concluded another major transfer operation on Saturday as the forward Ferran Torres completed his move to the French side Paris Saint-Germain. The Blaugranes got €50 million from this move, and this money can come in quite handy for them as they look to strengthen their team during this summer transfer window.

One of the transfers that the Catalans are currently working on is for the addition of the Manchester City midfielder Rodri Hernandez. They already have an agreement with the player, but have not been able to reach a consensus with City for his signing, despite having put in three offers in quick succession so far.

Their latest offer was put on the table last Friday, as Barcelona increased their proposal to €70 million in fixed fees and variables, after previously having offered €45 million and €60 million in their first two offers respectively.

However, according to MARCA, they have still not been able to convince Manchester City to agree to a transfer, as the Citizens remain adamant that they will not let the Spaniard leave for less than €80 million. Still, the two sides have made progress and, with the gap reducing between their respective positions, an agreement can be reached in the coming few days.

Deco and Hugo Viana are handling the negotiations for the two involved clubs, and with a difference of only €10 million between them, both Barcelona and Manchester City are optimistic about an agreement.

However, it will be difficult to continue the talks on Sunday, as both sides have matches scheduled for this day. City will be playing their first official game of the 2026-27 season, while Barcelona will be playing a friendly against Basel. Hopefully, this operation will conclude as soon as possible so all the involved parties can go into the next season with more clarity and certainty.
