The Spanish club’s opening €45m bid was laughed off by City chiefs before they returned with an improved proposal of €60m, which was also turned down

Now Barcelona have made a third offer, and they are confident this time about securing a deal for Rodri

The 30-year-old has been a key first-team player for Man City over the years, helping them win four Premier League titles and the 2022-23 Champions League.

But he has made it clear he will not renew his deal at the Etihad Stadium and wants a return to Spain.

Barcelona completed the signing of Anthony Gordon in a deal worth €80m before confirming the arrivals of Karim Adeyemi and Jesse Bisiwu.

They are still in the market for a top-class striker following the departures of Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres.

Barcelona have set their eyes firmly on Julian Alvarez, who is keen on a move to the Camp Nou.

But Atletico Madrid have no intention to part ways with the Argentine, having already rejected a €150 bid from Real Madrid earlier this summer.

Atletico are under no pressure to sell, with the 26-year-old under contract until 2030.
