Despite having had quite a busy summer transfer window, FC Barcelona still have several operations yet to be completed as the summer transfer window reaches its final few days. The Blaugranes are looking to complete the departures of several of their players before the transfer market ends.
On the other hand, new signings are not really expected. The Catalans can still try to land a new player if there is an unexpected departure or if a radical change takes place in the case of Julian Alvarez, but otherwise, there would be no new big-name signings.
According to MARCA, this is mainly because Barcelona are looking to save money for the January transfer window, when they might look to sign a new striker if the team’s form requires such a signing.
As things stand, Hansi Flick is very happy with how his team has performed even without a natural first team center-forward in their ranks. Raphinha has started in the center-forward position, and has scored three goals in two games. Fermin Lopez has also taken on a significant goalscoring burden, and he has also scored three goals in two games.
As a result, Barcelona have decided to go into the new season without a new center-forward, unless Julian Alvarez becomes available, even though Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres both left this summer.
However, they also understand that injuries and lack of form can significantly affect the team, and thus are looking to remain prepared if they had to sign a new center-forward in the middle of the season, in January.
Meanwhile, the Catalans can also make a new signing in the remaining days of this summer transfer window, but only if players like Marc Casado and Hector Fort end up leaving for good sums. However, the area Barcelona have decided to reinforce in this window is that of the center-back, and not the center-forward.
