According to an update provided by Mundo Deportivo, it has come to light that Barcelona’s recruitment team is once again being linked with Daniel Munoz, the dynamic right-back currently shining for Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

It is said that the 29-year-old defender is among the names on Deco’s shortlist as the club begins early planning for the 2026-2027 season.

Munoz has become an indispensable figure for Crystal Palace, featuring in nearly every match and consistently standing out with his work rate, defensive discipline, and ability to contribute in attack.

His fine form has not gone unnoticed across England, with Manchester City and Chelsea also reportedly monitoring his situation closely.

The Colombian international is under contract at Selhurst Park until 2028, and his current market value is estimated to be around €30 million.

Situation at Barcelona

At Barcelona, the right-back position remains an area that could see changes next summer. Jules Kounde is the regular starter, offering reliability and composure, while Eric Garcia has been used as an alternative when required.

However, Garcia has increasingly returned to his natural role in central defence, leaving the flank somewhat understaffed.

With manager Hansi Flick seeking greater tactical balance across the back line, the club is expected to explore new defensive options once the window reopens.

What makes Munoz’s potential move to Catalonia even more intriguing is his long-standing admiration for the club.

The Colombian defender has openly expressed his dream of wearing the Blaugrana shirt.

Back in 2020, when he left Atletico Nacional to join Belgian side Genk, he made no secret of his ambition, saying:

“I have always loved and dreamed of playing for Barcelona, but I also love English football. I want to play in the Premier League, whatever team it is,” he had said.

That statement perfectly sums up Munoz’s motivation, and with his steady rise, the prospect of seeing him fulfil that dream no longer seems far-fetched.
