Real Madrid are one of the clubs closely monitoring Etta Eyong, Levante’s in-form striker who has suddenly grown into one of football’s most in-demand players.

The young striker has scored six goals and provided three assists in La Liga already this season and is over performing his xG.

In fact, he even scored against Real Madrid when the two teams met in La Liga in September.

Los Blancos, however, are not alone in his pursuit with Barcelona and Manchester United also emerging as serious destinations.

The Catalans, in particular, are closely eyeing his situation as a potential replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

Eyong speaks about his future

Speaking to Ben Jacobs in a recent interview, the in-demand striker opened up on his future and whether he saw it to be in Spain or England.

“I can’t pick between La Liga and the Premier League because I love both leagues,” he began.

“I have already achieved my dream of playing in La Liga and my other dream is to one day play in the Premier League,” he added.

The Levante star was then asked if he was up to date with the rumours around his future, to which he replied in the negative stating that he distanced himself from noise around his transfer.

“I try not to look at my phone too much because my friends call me with all the gossip. I tell them, ‘I don’t know anything – I have just been on my PlayStation!’.”

“I would much rather play Call of Duty, watch anime or read history books than occupy my head with rumours,” he added.

Finally, Eyong acknowledged that a big move would only arrive if he kept growing as a player, and that he thus prioritised his development over anything else.

“If a big move is meant to be, it will only happen if I work hard.”

A small hint towards Barcelona

Later in his interview, the player spoke about how Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski was one of his inspirations, thus slightly hinting towards preferring Barcelona over Real Madrid.

“Lewandowski has managed to score so many goals throughout his career.”

“It’s really impressive what he’s doing at Barcelona right now. He is a great finisher and has intelligent movement,” he added.

Speaking on what he takes away from the legendary Polish striker’s game, Eyong said,

“He always seems to know the right time to ask for the ball. I can learn a lot from him.”
