According to a recent report from SPORT, it has come to light that Barcelona’s chances of signing Axel Disasi are almost impossible due to their economic reach, despite the defender’s profile fitting several needs.
The outlet mentions that from a technical standpoint, Disasi ticks many boxes. He is a powerful centre-back, strong in physical duels, quick across the ground, and comfortable playing out from the back.
These qualities have long made him an attractive option for clubs looking to stabilise their defence.
Notably, the defender’s situation at Chelsea has taken a clear turn. Under manager Enzo Maresca, Disasi has fallen completely out of favour and is no longer considered part of the first-team plans.
His lack of involvement this season is telling. Disasi has not played a single competitive minute for Chelsea in the current campaign, reinforcing the idea that his future lies away from Stamford Bridge.
With a contract running until 2029, the Blues would prefer a permanent transfer rather than another temporary solution.

Barcelona’s interest, as previously reported, emerged in this context. The Blaugrana are aware that their defensive line needs support, even with Ronald Araujo expected to return in early January.
In sporting terms, Disasi could offer a short- to medium-term solution at the heart of the defence, bringing experience and physical presence.
Yet, the main stumbling block is the player’s salary, which does not align with Barcelona’s current financial framework.
The club is still awaiting approval from La Liga to fully return to the 1:1 Financial Fair Play rule. Until that happens, their margin in the transfer market remains extremely limited.
Furthermore, a loan move is considered unrealistic, as taking on Disasi’s wages, even partially, would stretch Barcelona’s salary cap beyond what is currently permitted.
This financial constraint outweighs the sporting appeal of the player, effectively removing him from the list of viable options.
