Barcelona’s victory over Eintracht Frankfurt was shaped by one man – Jules Kounde.

The French defender produced one of the best performances of his Barcelona career, scoring twice with powerful headers and guiding the team to a vital 2–1 win

After the match, he spoke with clear satisfaction, not only for his personal success but for the team’s ability to respond under pressure.

Reflecting on the value of the three points, Kounde explained, “I’m happy with the victory.

“These are three very important points in our quest to finish as high as possible and have a chance to get into the top eight.

“Sometimes you get lucky with goals. Today was my day and I’m very happy.”

About the goal

Kounde also gave a candid and light-hearted account of his second goal. Smiling as he relived the moment, he admitted,

“To be honest, I tried to curl it into the box, but it went in. That’s why I was surprised. In the end, sometimes you have to be lucky to score goals.

“They’re two goals all the same,” before acknowledging that Barcelona had to dig deep to secure the win, adding that “we had to suffer, but they are three important points.”

Pedri’s analysis

Pedri, who also faced the media, expressed relief and pride after the team managed to overturn a difficult situation. Summarising their intentions from the start, he said, “We wanted to start with a win at Camp Nou.”

He described the challenge posed by the German side, remarking, “They made it very difficult for us. They are a team that sat back, which made it hard to create chances.

“We came back in the end and took the three points. I’m happy with the result.”

The midfielder then turned his attention to Kounde’s display, praising both his professionalism and consistency. With a warm smile, Pedri added,

“Kounde is a guy who works really hard. He deserves these two goals. They’ll be great for him to continue at the level he’s been giving us for several years.

“I’m happy for him, because he’s also a good friend. I’m sure he didn’t want to shoot on the second one, but hey, I’ll ask him,” ending on a playful note.
