Barcelona’s search for defensive reinforcement has once again gathered pace in the background, and a familiar name from the Premier League has now entered the conversation.
Transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Chelsea defender Axel Disasi has been offered to Barcelona ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
The context around Barcelona’s interest is clear that the long-term injury suffered by Andreas Christensen has forced the club to reassess its defensive depth.
While the Blaugrana are not in a state of panic, there is a growing understanding that an additional centre-back could be required to navigate the rest of the season and plan for the future.
The club has made it clear in recent weeks that there is no rush to act, especially given their financial situation and long-term planning strategy.
Several players have been put forward to the Catalan club, but each option is being analysed carefully rather than rushed through.
One of those options is Disasi, a defender whose situation at Chelsea has become increasingly complicated, as he is no longer part of Chelsea’s first-team plans for the current season.

What makes his case striking is that, despite his experience and physical presence, Disasi has not played a single competitive minute for the Blues this campaign.
Chelsea, for their part, appear open to moving him on. Reports suggest the London club have placed a price tag of around €25 million on a permanent transfer.
They are also willing to consider a loan deal that includes an obligation to buy, a structure that could appeal to clubs looking to spread the financial impact of the move.
However, for Barcelona, they do not want to bet on a player with an obligation to buy, which complicates matters given their budget constraints.
Meanwhile, Barcelona are also aware that they are not alone in monitoring the situation.
Interest in Disasi extends beyond Spain, with AS Roma reportedly exploring the possibility of a loan move.
That competition could influence both Chelsea’s stance and the player’s final decision.
