Barcelona planning talks with agent of Spanish World Cup star | OneFootball

The board at La Liga champions Barcelona are expressing a keen interest in the signature of Athletic Club star Aymeric Laporte.

Stopper Laporte is for his part of course fresh off a spectacular summer on the international front. From his berth at the heart of defence, the former Manchester City man played a leading role in Spain’s eventual triumph at the 2026 World Cup.

Laporte formed a remarkable partnership with Barcelona starlet Pau Cubarsí, which allowed a grand total of one goal against across the entire tournament.

And the potential of this pairing, evidently, did not go unnoticed amonst those behind the scenes at the Spotify Camp Nou.

Barca have not yet ruled out the possibility of adding a fresh face to the centre-back options at the disposal of Hansi Flick with a view to next season.

And according to Diario Sport, Laporte has over recent weeks positioned himself towards the very top of the Blaugrana’s shortlist:

‘Barça plans to contact Aymeric Laporte’s representatives in the coming days or even hours to learn firsthand about his future plans. Barça are very keen on this option given that he is a left-footed player, a low-cost option, and possesses the blend of youth and experience that suits the club so well.’

Laporte’s contract, it is claimed, contains a release clause set at less than €15 million.
