FC Barcelona are set to welcome RCD Mallorca to the Spotify Camp Nou for their next game in La Liga. For the Catalan giants, this is a fixture that they will have to win no matter what to ensure that they stay at the top of the table.
However, some important players such as Pedri and Raphinha are still sidelined for this league clash. Fortunately, Hansi Flick has reliable alternatives in the squad, and he will look to make the most out of the quality that is at his disposal.
Here is how Barcelona could line up against Mallorca.
Goalkeeper: Joan Garcia
The Spanish goalkeeper remains Barça’s first choice in between the sticks, and that should have him start this game as well. His performances have been consistent so far this season, so Hansi Flick can continue to trust him.
Right-back: Jules Kounde
Gradually improving and finding his best version again, Jules Kounde should be starting this game. The Frenchman came on as a substitute in the last game, so he should be ready to start here.
Centre-back: Ronald Araujo
Praised by Hansi Flick following his previous performance against Albacete, Ronald Araujo might end up starting this game as well. He looks confident, and that should be a boost for the team.
Centre-back: Pau Cubarsi
Slowly but surely regaining his consistency, Pau Cubarsi continues to be a real asset to Barcelona. Despite his age, he remains an important part of the team, and starting him could provide them with a strong passing outlet.
Left-back: Alejandro Balde
Always a threat on the left flank, the young Spaniard possesses a dangerous combination of speed and explosiveness. However, if he starts, he will need to work on his final pass to help the team.
CDM: Marc Casado
With Pedri still sidelined, this game will likely see Hansi Flick make some changes in midfield. For this game, Marc Casado might be a good pick considering his intensity and active presence in the heart of the pitch.
CDM: Frenkie de Jong
Sublime so far this season, Frenkie de Jong almost seems like a guarantee in midfield at this point. His recent performances, especially since Pedri got sidelined, have been sensational, and Flick will want to see more of that.
RAM: Lamine Yamal
The talented young winger continues to be a game-winner for Barcelona, and his performances continue to amaze. La Blaugrana will need more of his quality for this game as well, and Lamine Yamal always tends to deliver.
CAM: Fermin Lopez
Always a threat from the central areas, Fermin Lopez has the ability to add goals and intensity. With those traits, it is no surprise to see Hansi Flick consistently trusting him with such a big responsibility.
LAM: Marcus Rashford
With Raphinha still sidelined and in recovery, Marcus Rashford should be the likely choice to replace him for this game. The English winger has the quality to decide matches by himself, but he has to do it consistently.
Centre-forward: Robert Lewandowski
Considering the poor finishing from Ferran Torres recently, Barça really need to be more clinical in front of goal. To deal with that, perhaps giving Robert Lewandowski a start in this match could prove to be effective.
