Barcelona’s scouting department appears to be widening its lens once again in Brazil, with a new report from SPORT revealing that the club are seriously assessing a move for Vasco da Gama sensation Rayan.
The young winger is one of the brightest prospects in South American football right now, and Barcelona are believed to be weighing up an offer in the region of €25–30 million, though the internal debate is far from settled.
Rayan’s rise has been rapid, and his performances have already caught the attention of several Premier League sides, who view him as a long-term investment.
As such, Roma have entered the race and have reportedly begun initial talks with Vasco da Gama, although nothing has been finalised.
Barcelona, meanwhile, are adopting a more patient stance, waiting for the right moment to decide whether they should commit to a sizeable bid.
A key figure in this story is Deco. Long before becoming Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco was well aware of Rayan’s potential during his time as an agent.
That early knowledge now gives Barça a strategic advantage, as the club has been monitoring the winger closely and possesses detailed reports on his development.

At the same time, Barcelona are fully aware of the risks of investing heavily in Brazilian talents.
Even so, Barcelona are believed to be in a strong position should they decide to move forward.
Notably, Rayan recently extended his contract with Vasco da Gama until 2028.
While his market valuation sits at €18 million, Vasco da Gama will not entertain offers below €25 million, meaning Barça must carefully evaluate whether such an investment fits within their summer financial framework.
What is clear is that Deco likes Rayan, and the scouting reports are overwhelmingly positive.
Furthermore, even the player’s environment is very close to Barcelona, which could simplify negotiations if the Catalan side decide to activate their interest.
