Barcelona president Joan Laporta has this week spoken out once more regarding the potential return of club icon Lionel Messi.
Unfortunately for those of a Blaugrana persuasion, however, the same message has again been reiterated: a reunion is simply not on the cards.
Speculation surrounding a potential Barcelona comeback for eight-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi has of course returned to the fore in the media over recent weeks.
This comes after the Argentine paid a surprise visit to the Spotify Camp Nou.
Amid suggestions that as much came with the frosty relationship between Messi and Joan Laporta at last thawing out, the former was in turn tipped for a sensational move back to the club where he made his name.
As alluded to above, however, if the latest comments on the part of Barca’s president himself are anything to go by, then no such transfer will be forthcoming.
Drawn on the situation during an exchange with the media on Thursday, Laporta explained:
“Leo Messi’s return as a player is something just not realistic. As of now, he has a contract with Inter Miami. The club is building a project for the present and future. It’s complicated, and if you live in the past you hardly move forward.”
