Barcelona are pushing to complete the signing of Rodri from Manchester City within the next 48 hours, with negotiations over the Spain international now entering a decisive stage.

According to SPORT, the Catalan club have made the midfielder’s arrival a priority and are working to reach a preliminary agreement as quickly as possible. 

The objective is to get the final details resolved so Rodri can join Hansi Flick’s squad alongside the rest of the Spanish internationals.

The player has already agreed personal terms with Barcelona, leaving the transfer fee between the two clubs as the main issue still to be resolved.

Barcelona and Rodri already have an agreement

The most important part of the operation has already been completed from Barcelona’s perspective.

The outlet assures that Rodri has agreed to a four-year contract with the Catalan club, meaning there is no longer any uncertainty over whether the midfielder wants to make the move.

His desire to join Barcelona has been clear throughout the negotiations, and the remaining work is now focused on reaching an agreement with Manchester City.

Barcelona’s latest proposals are being discussed with the English club, with both sides working to bridge the remaining financial gap.

Notably, the initial Barcelona offer did not meet Manchester City’s expectations. 

City want to generate meaningful income from the departure of one of their most important players, particularly after their own spending during the summer transfer window.

There has been speculation in England that Manchester City were demanding around €80 million for Rodri.

However, SPORT reports that the final agreement could be reached for around €65 million, including a combination of a fixed payment and performance-related bonuses.

Rodri could join Barcelona within days

As such, Barcelona want to complete the Rodri transfer quickly so that Flick can have the midfielder working with his teammates as soon as possible.

The club plans to reach a preliminary agreement this Wednesday, with the final paperwork and medical process then able to move forward.

Rodri has already finished his post-World Cup holiday and is ready to travel to Barcelona once Manchester City permit him to undergo his medical.

That could happen quickly if the two clubs manage to resolve the remaining financial details.
