The brass at La Liga giants Barcelona will soon sit down for a round of discussions with young midfielder Marc Bernal, with the intention of tabling a contract offer to the Spaniard.
That’s according to ESPN, who have on Tuesday provided an insight into the situation.
Youngster Bernal has seen his immediate future in Catalunya’s capital thrown back into doubt over recent days. Ahead of the expected arrival of Manchester City star Rodri, the 19-year-old is set to tumble down the pecking order in boss Hansi Flick’s engine room ranks.
For this reason, it had been suggested that Bernal could seek a way out – be it on loan or a permanent basis – to secure more consistent game time this coming season.
Barcelona, however, are evidently keen to quell any concerns on the part of the starlet when it comes to his place in their plans, short and long-term alike. As per a report from ESPN:
‘Barcelona have scheduled a meeting with Marc Bernal in the coming days to discuss improving his contract.’
It is also noted that, ‘for sporting director Deco and president Joan Laporta, Bernal is an untouchable part of the team’.
