Frenkie de Jong’s future at Barcelona is uncertain as he enters the final year of his contract after this season. Without an extension this summer, the 26-year-old could be on the move.
A report from SPORT in October revealed that several top clubs, including Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain, are closely monitoring De Jong’s situation.
While De Jong has made it clear that he wants to stay at Barcelona, PSG’s history of signing players from the Catalan club makes them a realistic option.
Barcelona seems prepared to part ways with the Dutch midfielder as his contract nears its end. Mundo Deportivo reported that the club doesn’t plan to prioritize an extension due to their inability to meet his salary demands.
Recently, CaughtOffside reported that Liverpool have started talking internally about their top transfer targets for the summer, with De Jong on the list. However, his wages could pose a challenge.
Barcelona are open to selling him for around €35 million, but his hefty salary at the Nou Camp has previously stopped Liverpool and other clubs from making a move.

TEAMtalk reported on Tuesday that Barcelona is open to offers around €35m (£29 million) for De Jong, which Liverpool, among other interested clubs, sees as a fair price.
However, a major obstacle comes from De Jong’s agents. Any potential deal would require him to accept a significant pay cut, something he’s been hesitant to do in the past.
Additionally, the report notes that Juventus, recently underwhelmed by Douglas Luiz’s performances, have also expressed interest in De Jong.
While the transfer fee may not be a concern, the Bianconeri are not willing to pursue the deal further unless his salary demands are substantially lowered.
