FC Barcelona have a major headache to solve ahead of the January transfer window. Marc-Andre Ter Stegen is out of favour under Hansi Flick and is set to return soon after recovering from his latest surgery in the summer.

For some time, it has been evident that Barcelona will not stand in the German shot-stopper’s way should he wish to leave. However, Ter Stegen has been resolute in his aim to succeed at the club once he recovers from his back issues.

According to Fanatik (via SPORT), Barcelona have received the first offer for Marc-Andre Ter Stegen. Besiktas are willing to cover his wages until the end of the season and take him on loan, with a non-mandatory option to buy for around €8 million.

Ter Stegen is considered Besiktas’ priority transfer target. They want to reinforce their goalkeeping department, and the German would not only add quality but also provide valuable leadership.

The 33-year-old is unlikely to play regularly for Barcelona unless Joan Garcia is injured, and what he needs is consistent starts to build match fitness ahead of the 2026 World Cup. Germany will want Ter Stegen to be in rhythm.

Joan Garcia’s emergence has effectively closed the door on Ter Stegen. In many ways, this mirrors what the German did to Claudio Bravo in the early days of his Barcelona career, and, now that the shoe is on the other foot, it remains to be seen what he decides.
