The youngster Hamza Abdelkarim was one of the players FC Barcelona signed during the last summer transfer window. The Egyptian had been at the club since last January, when he joined on a half-season loan, but, impressed with his performances at the youth level, the Catalans decided to get him permanently during the summer.
During his time at the Blaugrana club, the player has made a visible leap, both in quality and stature. He is now alternating time with the first and the reserve teams, and already is an easily recognizable name in European football. He was the top scorer for Flick’s team during the preseason games, and has also been called up for the last few games of the new season, playing nine minutes in the league match against Rayo Vallecano.
In addition to his growth with Barcelona, he has also become a part of Egypt’s national team, and played several games for them during the last World Cup.
As a result, Barcelona have decided to give him a new contract, and as Mundo Deportivo has reported, the Catalan club officially announced that they have reached an agreement with the young forward to extend his contract till 2030.
When he signed for the Blaugranes, with a contract till 2029, he had a release clause of only €15 million. However, Barcelona now wanted to have more security about his future at their club, and thus, this new contract will increase his release clause to €150 million.
The signing ceremony for this new contract is set to take place on Tuesday, 15 September, and will be held at president Joan Laporta’s office. Although it is not common for players to do so, the forward will also address the media after his contract signing, as he was not officially presented when he was signed this summer.
