According to journalist Nil Sola, FC Barcelona are poised to officially complete the transfer of Belgian teenage winger Jesse Bisiwu, with the formal signing of his contract expected to take place this afternoon in the Catalan capital.

The 18-year-old attacker will finally complete his move after Barcelona and Club Brugge reached an agreement and have seemingly successfully exchanged all the necessary transfer documents to clear the move.

Final steps in the transfer

The completion of the deal comes after weeks of quiet negotiations between the two clubs.

Barcelona’s sporting department, led by Deco, managed to secure an agreement for a financial package that includes an €8.5 million fixed transfer fee. To convince Club Brugge to let the young player leave immediately, the deal also features a 20% sell-on clause.

This means the Belgian side will receive a fifth of any future transfer fee if Barcelona decide to sell the winger later in his career.

Later this afternoon, the player, along with his agents and family, are expected to meet senior Barcelona club executives at the club’s offices to sign his new long-term contract, which is expected to tie him to the team for the next five seasons.

Immediate plans for integration

The arrival of Bisiwu is seen as a major success for Barcelona’s youth talent project spearheaded by director Deco and head of scouting Joao Amaral.

Initially, the Belgian youth international will be registered with the reserve team, Barça Atletic, to help him adapt to the physical demands of Spanish football and learn the club’s specific passing style.

However, the Catalans’ first-team head coach Hansi Flick plans to include the teenage winger in senior training sessions regularly.

The coaching staff hopes that Bisiwu can progress quickly through the ranks and provide valuable attacking depth for the senior squad during a long and demanding multi-competition season.

In fact, Barcelona are specifically aiming to have Bisiwu make his unofficial senior debut during the triangular tournament in Udine, Italy, on August 8th, where they face Udinese and Nottingham Forest in pre-season friendly matches.
