La Liga giants Barcelona have on Sunday been dealt a fresh blow on the personnel front.

This comes after Jules Koundé was forced into a premature departure from the club’s most recent outing.

Barcelona of course marked their return to action a short time ago, making the trip to in-form Villarreal for the respective clubs’ final outing of the calendar year.

And when all was said and done, Hansi Flick’s troops ensured that they will head into the turn of the year boasting a four-point advantage atop the table.

As much came courtesy of a 2-0 triumph.

As alluded to above, however, en route to their latest three-point haul, the Blaugrana were also dealt a blow.

This came upon defender Jules Koundé limping from the field of play with what appeared to be a muscular injury late on.

An official update on the status of the Frenchman will be expected over the next couple of days.
