Ferran Torres was the main star of Barcelona’s win 3-0 against Getafe at Estadi Johan Cruyff on Sunday night.

The Spanish international was named MVP of the match after scoring twice in the first half and is now the team’s top scorer in La Liga with four goals, surpassing Raphinha, who has three.

Ferran happy with performance

Speaking to the media after the game (h/t Mundo Deportivo), Ferran highlighted that it was always going to be difficult against Getafe, while also aiming a dig at their opponents’ style of play.

“We knew it was going to be a tough match. They often don’t offer anything, committing a lot of fouls and disrupting the pace of the game,” said Ferran.

“Although we didn’t start the second half well, we got the three points,” he added.

The former Manchester City star continues to prove himself match after match. After the game, he underlined that he feels confident about being a starter, not just an option from the bench.

“I already said I could be a starter at Barça. I always try to take advantage of opportunities. There will be many more goals to come,” he said.

“Now it’s time to keep working and continue consolidating my position as a striker. The good thing about me is that I’m growing, I’m maturing, and that’s the important thing.”

Ferran finished by speaking about the favourable half-time scoreline and Dani Olmo’s backheel assist, saying:

“We read the first half very well, especially. The two goals in the first half gave us the game in our favor. I know Dani’s quality, and I followed the play because I knew he was going to give it to me. I’m very happy for him, too.”
