Barcelona star set for first competitive international start | OneFootball

A member of the midfield ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona has been pencilled in for a starting berth on the international stage over the coming days.

This comes amid the understanding that Fermín López is set to feature from the off in Spain’s upcoming meeting with Croatia.

Luis de la Fuente’s troops are fresh off getting their Nations League campaign up and running with a victory over the weekend, putting England to the sword at Wembley.

Fermín was for his part an unused substitute, as Barcelona teammate Dani Olmo was favoured to fill the attacking midfield role.

As alluded to above, though, on Tuesday night, the former looks set to be handed his chance to shine… As per a report from Diario Sport:

‘Fermín López will start this Tuesday against Croatia. In principle, Luis de la Fuente is expected to bet on the Barça midfielder in Spain’s second match in this Nations League, at the Sánchez-Pizjuán.’

Should this prove to be the case, the 23-year-old will take to the pitch as a starter for Spain in a competitive fixture for the very first time in his career.
