Barcelona star speaks out on his future after Atalanta draw | OneFootball

Barcelona star Ronald Araújo has this week provided a fresh insight into his future with the club.

This, of course, comes fresh off the Uruguayan international putting pen to paper on a new contract in Catalunya’s capital.

Araújo for his part extended his terms with Hansi Flick’s Barcelona all the way through 2031 last week.

The announcement of as much, however, was swiftly followed by reports which set alarm bells sounding across the Blaugrana fanbase.

This came after it was revealed that Araújo’s new deal features a release clause for this coming summer, set at just €65 million.

As much was widely construed to mean that the stopper is keen to keep his options open when it comes to a potential new adventure for next season.

Speaking to the media after finding the net in Barcelona’s 2-2 Champions League draw with Atalanta on Wednesday night, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his renewal was put to Araújo himself.

And the 25-year-old made use of the opportunity to quell any and all fears, assuring:

“I don’t know anything about the release clause, but I will be staying here for a long time.”
