A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has made his way onto the transfer radar of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
This comes amid the understanding that the Sky Blues have set their sights on the signing of Jules Koundé.
Stopper Koundé has for his part continued to play a leading role in the first-choice XI of Barcelona boss Hansi Flick across the season to date.
All told, across all competitions, the France international has racked up 35 total appearances.
Along the way, though, Koundé has been singled out for frequent criticism, as he struggles to rediscover his brilliant form from the 2024/25 campaign.
Such struggles have given rise to suggestions that, in the case of a sufficient offer arriving, the Camp Nou brass could be open to a sale.
And as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then such a bid could yet be tabled by none other than Man City.
As per a report from Fichajes:
‘Pep Guardiola is looking to bolster his defense with a right-back who offers absolute guarantees in ball distribution. Jules Koundé has emerged as the preferred candidate.’
Barcelona, it is added, are likely to demand a sum in the region of €80 million for Koundé’s signing.
