What Lamine Yamal is pulling off as a 16-year-old at the Euros is not normal. The Barcelona phenom has made himself a household name at this point, shining consistently for Spain and establishing himself as a contender to take home the title of player of the tournament.

Starting La Roja’s semifinal against France last night, the 16-year-old winger lit the field with his magic and scored one of the goals of the tournament to cancel out Randal Kolo Muani’s early opener.

What made the goal even more special, however, was a certain taunt from France’s Adrien Rabiot ahead of the game that was particularly targeted at Yamal.

A fitting reply

It is clear that Rabiot’s statements towards Yamal did not go down with the player, and it was only fitting that the youngster whipped the ball into France’s net from right under the French midfielder’s nose.

The youngster’s celebration after the win, undoubtedly, was aimed towards the PSG star as well.

Spain’s star, however, is not alone and his La Masia friends appear to have pitched in to defend their compatriot after his heroic display.

Barcelona starlet Hector Fort came out on his social media referring to the pre-match ‘talk’, seemingly taking a jibe at Rabiot as well.

Hector Fort’s Instagram update

“A lot of talk and then what happens happens,” he said.

La Masia defender Pau Prim, meanwhile, commented on Yamal’s Instagram post stating that one must learn to keep quiet while Ferran Torres called him the ‘MVP’.

Yamal will next be in action for Spain in Sunday night’s final. He is currently the odds-on favourite to win the Player of the Tournament accolade and could well make history if La Roja make it past the final hurdle.
