Barcelona, Barcelona City Council and the Generalitat of Catalonia have submitted a full dossier to UEFA to host the 2029 Champions League final at the Spotify Camp Nou. UEFA is due to decide in early 2027.

Work continues at the stadium, with the third tier to open in phases this season and the roof build scheduled to begin next year. Limak plans to complete the redevelopment by the end of 2028, which would put Barça in position if deadlines are met. According to Ara, members will need to authorise an increase to the Goldman Sachs financing of 1,377 million euros to finish the project.

A final would return to the venue for the first time since 1998-99, when Manchester United beat Bayern Munich 2-1 in stoppage time. The Camp Nou also staged the 1989 showpiece, Arrigo Sacchi’s Milan defeating Steaua Bucharest 4-0.

The submission sets out the technical, contractual and institutional requirements demanded by UEFA, plus guarantees on the organisational capacity of the stadium and the city. The rebuilt ground is undergoing a major transformation that would place it among the most modern and iconic, and is planned to be the largest in Europe at around 105,000 capacity.

Barcelona also plan to bid to stage the 2030 World Cup final, in competition with the Santiago Bernabéu. It remains to be seen when Joan Laporta, who begins a new presidential term on one July, will convene delegates to discuss the financing.
