Youngster Martínez was for his part snapped up by Barcelona last month, after the expiration of his contract terms with Catalan rivals Espanyol.

The midfielder, in turn, went on to make his debut in Blaugrana colours over the weekend, in Barca Atlètic’s friendly meeting with L’Escala.

Early on, however, disaster struck for Martínez.

After going to ground clutching his shoulder, it quickly became clear that the 21-year-old was in no fit state to continue.

Martínez was in turn hauled off, before being put through a round of medical scans and tests.

And as alluded to above, on Tuesday, the results of as much have been revealed.

In an early blow for Barca Atlètic ahead of the new campaign, it has been confirmed that:

‘The tests conducted have shown that Barça Atlètic player Roger Martínez has a glenohumeral dislocation of the left shoulder. He will undergo conservative treatment, with an expected recovery time of between 8 and 10 weeks.’
