It is clear that Robert Lewandowski is not enjoying the best of times at Barcelona, having fallen behind Ferran Torres in the pecking order. Everything suggests this could be his last season at Barcelona.
However, the veteran forward got back to scoring momentum by netting one of Poland’s two goals in the 2-0 win over Lithuania in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Speaking to the media after the game, Lewandowski talked about his goal for the Polish national team as well as his experience under new coach Jan Urban.
Lewandowski quipped that his next goal will be to reach 100 goals with the Polish national team. “I only need 13 goals to reach 100?” he said (h/t Mundo Deportivo).
“There are still a few games left this year, and next year too,” he added. “I’m happy with every goal. We’ll see what happens.”
Lewandowski has indeed netted 87 goals for Poland in 161 matches, meaning he is just 13 goals away from the 100-goal mark.

However, at the age of 37, one would assume time is not on the side of the Barcelona forward, who went on to talk about his experience under the new Polish coach, Urban.
“The coach is honest and clear. You have to play these kinds of games, win them, and come home with the three points,” he said.
Talking about the game itself, Lewandowski said Poland could have defended their lead better, even though they did not actually concede a goal.
“The second goal calmed us down because the Lithuanians tried to attack us, and we lacked precision in the final pass, keeping possession, and positioning in open space,” he said.
Finally, Lewandowski praised Urban once more, particularly his ability to connect the team through his words.
“What the coach says connects with us, because he’s honest and clear. He tells us how to play, how to perform, and what we need to pay attention to,” he concluded.
