With the October international break going on, several FC Barcelona players are currently away from the club, training with their respective national sides.
A significant number of these players are training with the Spanish national team, but two such players have had to leave the national team camp early. One of these players was Dani Olmo, who left the national team camp a few days ago after suffering a calf problem.
Now, another Barcelona player has left the Spanish national team camp ahead of the match against Bulgaria.
According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, the Barcelona forward began experiencing muscle discomfort after the game against Georgia in Elche. Following medical assessments by the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), it was confirmed that Ferran is suffering from a muscle overload but has not sustained any structural injury.
In an official statement, the RFEF explained that the player
“reported muscle discomfort which was evaluated by the medical services, including complementary tests that diagnosed a muscle overload without any anatomical injury.”
The statement added that, considering the short turnaround before the match against Bulgaria and in line with their policy of prioritizing player health, the decision was made to release him from the squad.
The Federation also emphasized that Barcelona’s medical staff have been fully informed about Ferran’s condition, a point made clear following the recent tensions between the club and the RFEF after Lamine Yamal’s injury during the previous international break.
After feeling tightness following the Georgia game, it was Ferran himself who alerted the medical team. Both the RFEF and Barcelona agreed that the best decision was for him to return to Catalonia and rest. He is now under the care of the club’s medical staff, who will monitor his recovery closely.
Spain coach Luis de la Fuente is not expected to call up a replacement for the forward. For Barcelona, the hope is that Ferran Torres will recover fully and be available for selection when club football resumes with the match against Girona.
