Lamine Yamal and Raphinha have been fantastic for Barcelona so far this season and are both undroppable in Hansi Flick’s plans.

The team does, however, require some backup options for the wing especially with Ferran Torres and Ansu Fati simply not providing the required firepower when deployed as rotational options.

The Catalan management has thus been monitoring the situations of several wingers in recent months including Nico Williams, Rafael Leao, Mohammed Salah and Leroy Sane.

Sane speaks on his future

Speaking to the media in a conversation recently, Bayern Munich superstar winger Leroy Sane opened up on his future and a potential change of scenery in the coming months.

“We are in talks, I feel comfortable in Munich,” he began, insisting it was his priority to renew with the Bavarians as revealed by Fabrizio Romano.

The player then expressed how he felt on Vincent Kompany’s side and added that he did not intend to leave. “I feel really comfortable. Talks are very good. My focus is currently only on FC Bayern.”

The 28-year-old right-winger’s current contract at Bayern runs until the summer of 2025 and is thus close to the final six months of his contract.

Should a renewal not materialise in the coming months for any reason, he will be able to leave the German club as a free agent and Barcelona will be alert to the possibility of snapping him up for free.

Given his desire to renew with the club, however, that appears unlikely as of now.

So far this season, Sane has only made six appearances and one start for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga and has just one goal to his name. He averages just 28 minutes per game in the UEFA Champions League and is yet to start a game in Europe’s premier competition.
