According to Mundo Deportivo, FC Barcelona have completed an excellent sale involving Tommy Marques.

With just two appearances and nine minutes played in La Liga, the academy midfielder is leaving the club for SC Braga in a deal that has risen in recent days from €10 million to almost €12 million.

Marques is already in Portugal

The 19-year-old La Masia graduate, accompanied by his agent Ivan de la Pena, watched Braga’s Conference League match against Austria Vienna live yesterday in the first leg of the final qualifying round, which the Portuguese side won 2-0.

Marques wanted to leave Barça because he did not see a realistic path to establishing himself in the first team.

That became even clearer following the arrival of Rodri and the greater confidence Hansi Flick has shown in Brian Farinas during pre-season.

At Braga, Tommy will play alongside former Barcelona forward Pau Victor, who showed last season that the Portuguese club is a good place to develop as a footballer.

The striker scored 17 goals for Braga and has been rewarded with the No. 10 shirt this season.

Marques, whose Barça contract was due to expire in 2028, will also have a strong supporter in Carlos Vicens, Braga’s head coach.

A graduate of Manchester City’s academy system himself, Vicens is known for his willingness to trust young players.

End of a long partnership

The move brings an end to an 11-year spell at FC Barcelona for the midfielder, who joined the club at nine years old from CE Europa.

On February 7, 2026, he fulfilled his dream of making his first-team debut against Mallorca at the Spotify Camp Nou.

His second La Liga appearance came on the third-to-last matchday of last season away to Deportivo Alaves, with Barça already crowned champions.

Now, at 19, Marques leaves Barcelona in search of the regular first-team football he couldn’t guarantee at the Camp Nou, while Barça collect almost €12 million from the sale.

He follows the likes of Jofre Torrents and Aron Yaakobishvili on his way out while more La Masia talents such as Hector Fort, Guille Fernandez, and Toni Fernandez will also leave.
