La Liga champions Barcelona have on Thursdsay been afforded some timely positive news on the personnel front.
This comes amid confirmation that Frenkie de Jong has returned to the grass at the Ciutat Esportiva.
Midfielder De Jong was for his part forced into a premature departure from international duty with the Netherlands last week.
This came after the former Ajax man picked up a muscular problem during a World Cup qualifying meeting with Poland.
Barcelona subsequently confirmed in a statement that De Jong ‘has suffered a slight injury to the external obturator muscle in his right leg’.
The Blaugrana standout, in turn, was forced to sit out training across the week to date.
As alluded to above, though, three days out from Barca’s La Liga meeting with Valencia, De Jong has taken a significant step forward in his recovery.
As per a report from journalist Carlos Monfort of Diario Sport:
‘Frenkie de Jong has returned to training for the first time after his minor obturator muscle injury. He did so separately from the group, without a ball. Good sensations, but there’s no rush.’
