Barcelona find themselves in no rush to decide the future of Robert Lewandowski, whose current contract runs until 2026.

Meanwhile, according to SPORT, the Polish striker has no objection to continuing at the club beyond this season, provided his physical condition allows him to compete at the highest level.

Lewandowski, who remains a vital figure in Hansi Flick’s squad, has often spoken about his hunger to perform and his ambition to contribute.

However, at 37, the club must also carefully evaluate how his role will evolve in the coming campaigns. When asked about the situation, sporting director Deco urged calm.

“We have to take it slowly and not discuss it publicly. He’s smart enough to know the pace and timing to talk about this when the time is right,” Deco explained.

The forward has made it clear that he would be open to continuing for another year if he feels 100% fit, leaving the decision largely dependent on his performances and the club’s financial outlook.

Julian Alvarez complication

While Barcelona continue to monitor Lewandowski’s situation, the club has also started exploring potential long-term replacements.

In this regard, Julian Alvarez of Atletico Madrid has emerged as a name of interest. However, bringing him to Camp Nou appears highly unlikely.

Firstly, the Argentine striker is tied to a long-term deal at Atletico, meaning the club has no pressure to sell.

Secondly, Alvarez himself has shown little interest in transfer speculation, recently stating that he is focused on his current team and does not pay attention to market rumours.

Given these circumstances, Barcelona know that finding a top striker in the current market is no easy task.

For now, the sensible approach is to rely on Lewandowski’s experience while keeping an eye on his form and physical readiness.

The coming months will be crucial, as both his performance levels and the club’s economic situation will ultimately shape the decision.
