Barcelona and Real Madrid will clash in the Spanish Super Cup final this Sunday, as both clubs chase their first trophy of the 2025-26 campaign.
Marking the fourth year running these powerhouses face off in the decider, the clash at Jeddah’s King Abdullah Sports City Stadium is sure to deliver high drama if their last three meetings at this stage are anything to by.
Barça won the 2025 edition by a 5-2 scoreline in a thrilling comeback after losing 4-1 to Real the year before. The Catalan outfit won 3-1 in the 2023 decider.
Barcelona’s Marc-André ter Stegen is still out with a knee problem, eyeing a possible return in mid-January—potentially for the league game versus Racing Santander. Andreas Christensen picked up an ACL tear in recent training, sidelining him for the long haul.
Gavi remains sidelined from knee surgery to repair a medial meniscus tear, with no return anticipated before early 2026.
Ronald Araujo might make the squad after resuming full training, but Eric García is likely to partner Pau Cubarsí at centre-back. Up top, Marcus Rashford, Robert Lewandowski, and Roony Bardghji may find themselves on the bench, highlighting Hansi Flick’s deep attacking resources.
Possible Barcelona starting XI: J Garcia; Kounde, Cubarsi, E Garcia, Balde; Pedri, De Jong; Yamal, Raphinha, Fermin; F Torres
The match will kick off at 7pm BST on Sunday, 11th January.
