It is no surprise that Barcelona are one of the clubs keeping tabs on the recent goings-on with Manchester City. Last week, it was reported that the Premier League had found the Cityzens guilty on 114 FFP charges, and if this is confirmed, there would likely be a big punishment coming their way, which could make it easier for their players to be signed.

Erling Haaland is one of the players that Barcelona are following, but they are also keeping tabs on someone that has long been expected to join Man City: Cavan Sullivan. The recently-capped United States international has a pre-agreement in place to join the Premier League giants when he turns 18, although his agent (via Sport) has now confirmed that this could end up not coming into effect.

“Manchester City is one of the biggest clubs in the world. What they have built cannot be erased from history. It is true that there is a pre-agreement with them for Sullivan, but you never know what can happen. We hope that they solve everything in the best possible way.”

Another Barcelona-Real Madrid battle on the cards for Sullivan

Reports in the United States, as highlighted by Sport, note that Barcelona and Real Madrid are interested in Sullivan, and they are ready to try signing him if Man City end up being severely punished. Both clubs will hope that the pre-agreement in place does not come to fruition, which would allow them to sign him directly from MLS side Philadelphia Union.

Sullivan, who has operate on both wings, would be another exciting addition for Barcelona, alongside the likes of Jesse Bisiwu and Hamza Abdelkarim. The club’s focus on identifying young talents has worked well so far, and if they managed to sign Sullivan, it would arguably be bigger than any recent deal they have done for a teenage star.
