Barcelona winger seeks summer exit due to lack of opportunities

Barcelona will see several players depart over the course of the summer, as they prepare to raise much-needed funds to help solve their financial woes. From the first team, the likes of Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Marc Casado and Roony Bardghji have been mentioned as likely departees, while there will also La Masia talents that move on.

Jofre Torrents is one that looks set to leave on loan, while Diego Kochen is on the verge of joining Danish side Lyngby. Joining them at the exit door will be Dani Rodriguez, who is ready for a new challenge in his career.

Rodriguez has struggled to break into the Barcelona first team since Hansi Flick’s arrival, and with no hope at this stage, he has decided to leave this summer, as per MD. The 20-year-old does not want to spend another season playing in the fourth tier of Spanish football with Barca Atletic, which is why he wants to try his luck elsewhere.

Rodriguez could be reunited with former teammate in Croatia

Mallorca and Valencia were both keen on signing Rodriguez last summer, but in the end, a move failed to materialise for the winger. It should be different in 2026, as he’s prepared to push for an exit, and with only a year left on his contract, Barcelona must make a decision on how they want him to move on.

There is a chance that Rodriguez signs a new contract before leaving on loan, but the likely outcome is that a transfer is agreed, with Barcelona retaining a buy-back option and/or sell-on clause, which would allow them to retain some control over his future.

It will be interesting to where Rodriguez ends up. Right now, Dinamo Zagreb are favourites to sign him, and a move to the Croatian giants may be ideal for the young winger, given how successful the same move has been for ex-teammate Sergi Dominguez.
