FC Barcelona were dealt a big blow last night when they lost 4-0 to Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey semi-final first leg.

Even as they are smarting from the loss, the Blaugrana cannot afford to take their eyes off the ball as they face Girona in the Catalan derby on Monday night.

Raphinha to return

Leading up to the game against Michel’s Girona side, Barcelona have received some positive news on the injury front.

According to Javi Miguel of AS, Hansi Flick will be able to recover one of his most important players, Raphinha, for the Catalan derby on Monday.

The Brazilian international returned to the grass this Friday to complete part of the session with the substitutes, a first step towards training with the full group on Saturday.

The Brazilian suffered a muscular overload against Elche, which prevented him from playing the second half of that game, with an initial prognosis of one week out.

However, his recovery did not progress as expected, and his return was ultimately delayed. As a result, he missed the Copa del Rey fixtures against Albacete and Atletico Madrid, as well as the league match against Mallorca in between.

But Raphinha is set to return for the game against Girona, with medical clearance expected on Monday, so that he can travel to Estadi Montilivi.

Rashford not ready

Marcus Rashford, however, has not yet recovered fully. The English forward made an awkward movement during last weekend’s match against Mallorca, leaving his left knee somewhat affected.

As a result, the on-loan forward missed the game against Atletico Madrid last night. He has not yet returned to the pitch, and as a result, his participation against Girona remains uncertain.

Meanwhile, Pedri will also not be available. He is expected to return for the match against Levante on 22 February at the Spotify Camp Nou. Gavi and Andreas Christensen are also ruled out.
