The year 2024 has been all about Lamine Yamal, who has become a top player at Barcelona and is now making waves in Euro 2024 with a series of dazzling performances.

Yamal also became the player that saw the highest valuation increase during the 2023/24 season, with Transfermarkt issuing a whopping €90 million valuation jump.

But Yamal’s year is about to get better, as the Barcelona forward has been regarded as a favourite to win the prestigious Golden Boy award.

Lamine Yamal likely to win Golden Boy 2024

As reported by Mundo Deportivo, the voting for the Golden Boy award has already begun and everything suggests Lamine Yamal will win the coveted trophy.

The young winger from Rocafonda is poised to succeed Jude Bellingham and add another chapter to Barcelona’s recent dominance in youth recognition.

Yamal’s skilful dribbling, blistering pace, and clinical finishing have set him apart in a field that includes formidable contenders such as Joao Neves, Warren Zaire-Emery, and Alejandro Garnacho.

If his performances in Euro 2024 were not enough, Yamal was involved in 17 goals for Barcelona this past season – making him the undisputed leader in the race for Golden Boy.

The Golden Boy Award has recently favoured Barcelona talents, with Pedri and Gavi claiming the honours in 2021 and 2022 respectively.

Even in this year’s list, Yamal is partnered with a few other nominees from Barcelona including Pau Cubarsi and Vitor Roque.

Although Alejandro Balde narrowly missed out last year, finishing as runner-up, Yamal looks poised to reclaim the award for Barcelona in 2024.
