Barcelona fans were dealt with a major injury scare this week as new signing Dani Olmo picked up a knock during the international break.

Not long after the injury came to light, Barça fans were relieved as Spain’s coach admitted Olmo’s knock was only a major bruise.

However, Olmo is still unlikely to play a role in Spain’s game against Switzerland later this evening. This led to questions on whether or not the former RB Leipzig star will be available for Barcelona’s next league game against Girona.

The Catalans are slated to take on their Catalan rivals next Sunday at Estadio Montilivi.

Olmo to be available vs Girona

A recent report from Mundo Deportivo has shed more light on Olmo’s fitness, confirming that the Spaniard should be ready for the Girona game.

The report adds that Olmo’s absence today was merely a precaution and the player should be back in full fitness ahead of next weekend’s encounter.

This could come as a relief for Barcelona fans and Hansi Flick, who has gotten the best out of the Spaniard in these early parts of the campaign.

Olmo has indeed played a key role in Barcelona’s early success, notably racking up two goals in two matches.

Olmo’s presence against Girona could go a long way in boosting Barcelona’s chances against their Catalan rivals, who are known for their sturdy defence and ability to cause an upset.

However, the Catalans must still keep a close eye on Olmo’s fitness, knowing they cannot afford the Spaniard to aggravate his knock.
