FC Barcelona bounced back from their midweek loss to Chelsea by defeating Deportivo Alaves 3-1 at the Spotify Camp Nou on Saturday evening.

However, manager Hansi Flick was not fully pleased with the performance and insisted there is still a lot of room for improvement.

Amidst all this, an image of the German tactician sitting on the bench after the game with a dejected expression has gone viral.

Flick can be seen visibly frustrated before being approached by Raphinha, with the pair then sharing a small conversation.

The image, though, sparked concern among the Barça fanbase, with reports even suggesting that Flick was feeling ‘worn out and helpless’ after what has been a tough week for the team.

Barcelona’s explanations

However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have dismissed any internal issue and clarified that Flick was simply upset by several incidents during the match.

Flick finished the match irritated with the fourth official, Alvaro Canovas Garcia-Villarrubia, after the red cards shown to goalkeeping coach Jose Ramon de la Fuente and assistant coach Marcus Sorg, for protesting from the bench.

The dismissals of two key staff members frustrated Flick, who will be unable to count on either of them for the upcoming league matches against Atletico Madrid and Real Betis.

Another factor behind Flick’s anger was the penalty that was not awarded to Lamine Yamal in the first half.

The Barcelona winger was brought down in the box by Alaves defender Victor Parada, but referee Miguel Angel Ortiz Arias did not make the call despite the clear contact, and the VAR official, Jorge Figueroa Vazquez, chose not to intervene.

Taking all this into account, Flick ended the match visibly annoyed despite the victory. In Raphinha, one of the captains and key figures in the squad, the manager found someone with whom he could share his frustration.
