La Liga giants Barcelona have this week closed an agreement to add to the goalkeeper ranks under the watch of first-team boss Hansi Flick.
This comes amid the understanding that the Blaugrana have closed a deal to secure the signing of Dominik Livaković from Turkish heavyweights Fenerbahçe.
Recent days have seen the situation between the posts in Catalunya’s capital emerge as an altogether prominent one in the media headlines. After word was forthcoming that Deco and co. were eying a replacement for Wojciech Szczęsny with a view to the 2027/28 campaign, the aforementioned Livaković was quickly tipped to fill the post.
Croatian international Livaković is currently considered surplus to requirements at Fenerbahçe, owing to the presence of former Manchester City standout Ederson.
The Camp Nou brass, in turn, this week made use of the opportunity to open talks over a potential deal for the 31-year-old. And as alluded to above, on Friday, these discussions appear to have borne fruit.
As per a report from transfer market insider Fabrizio Romano:
‘Barcelona have reached a verbal agreement for Dominik Livaković to join from Fenerbahçe, here we go! €2m initial fee, €2m add-ons. Plan to sign Livaković as backup goalkeeper from June 2027 when Szczesny leaves. This season, Livaković will go out on loan.’
