Rodri is expected to land in Barcelona this afternoon after FC Barcelona and Manchester City reached an agreement in principle for the transfer of the midfielder over the weekend.

As previously reported, Barça will pay €60 million up front, plus €16.5 million in performance-related variables, of which €11 million are expected to be easily achievable.

Barcelona’s plans for Rodri

Now, according to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona already have mapped out a schedule to complete the remaining formalities and present Rodri as their newest signing.

Once he arrives in the Catalan capital later today, the 30-year-old Spain captain will head to his hotel to rest.

Tomorrow morning, he will undergo his medical and physical tests, the final step before signing his contract with Barcelona.

The plan was for him to complete his medical earlier today in Manchester itself, but the club changed things and the procedure is now scheduled to take place early morning on Tuesday.

Once that is done, the La Liga champions are currently planning to present him on Tuesday from 1 p.m., provided the necessary paperwork and exchange of contracts with Manchester City have been completed beforehand.

Present at the Gamper Trophy match

Once the contractual formalities are completed, Rodri is expected to attend the Joan Gamper Trophy this Wednesday at Spotify Camp Nou at 8 p.m.

As things stand, the 2026 FIFA World Cup winner will not play in the game against Al Ahly, but will instead be presented to his new supporters.

The Madrid-born midfielder would take to the pitch alongside the club’s other new signings, Anthony Gordon, Karim Adeyemi, Jesse Bisiwu and Joao Cancelo, who has already arrived in Barcelona.

As already reported, Rodri is expected to be handed the No. 16 shirt at Barcelona, having requested the club for that particular kit.

Fermin Lopez, who held the No. 16 last season, has already been given the No. 7 shirt, left vacant after Ferran Torres’ departure, paving the way for Rodri to take over his desired kit number.

So, unless something changes, Rodri will arrive in Barcelona today and rest before completing his medical in the morning tomorrow, following which the contract signing and presentation will take place.
