Falkirk striker Barney Stewart has described talk of a Championship move as insane, amid reports that a seven-figure offer from West Brom has been rejected.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, Albion have had multiple bids rebuffed. Celtic and several Championship clubs are also credited with interest in the 22-year-old Londoner, who has been tipped for a shock Scotland World Cup call-up.
Speaking at the Scottish Football Writers’ Awards, he said the speculation is a lot to take in, and that he will enjoy the summer while any talks happen in the background. He added that any move would be a massive step and something he would have to take in his stride.
He has represented Scotland under-21s, qualifying through his father. After a loan at Dunfermline in the first half of the season, he returned to Falkirk and struck 10 SPL goals in the run-in, including a hat-trick against Hibernian. Across Falkirk and Dunfermline he finished with 18 goals in 33 appearances.
A former QPR trainee, Stewart moved to Scotland on a Heriot-Watt University scholarship. While completing a Sports Science degree he played in the East of Scotland Football League, scoring over 40 goals and winning promotion before Falkirk moved in 2024. He made his Falkirk debut in January 2025.
