Barry Douglas, a key part of Wolves’ Championship-winning side in his only season at Molineux, has announced his retirement.

The player said in a post that it was the day every footballer knows is coming. He reflected on giving everything, thanked the clubs he represented and said playing for his country was a source of pride.

Born in Glasgow, he began at Queen’s Park, then spent three years with Dundee United before moving to Lech Poznan, where he won the Polish top flight and a domestic double. A switch to Konyaspor in Türkiye followed.

He joined Wolves from Konyaspor and scored five goals in 42 appearances in all competitions as Nuno led the club to the Championship title.

After promotion he signed for Leeds United. He later had a short loan at Blackburn Rovers, then returned to Lech Poznan, winning the league again, before ending his career with St Johnstone last season.
