CD Basconia, Athletic’s second reserve side, have surged through the Segunda Federación’s second half, extracting big returns from a youthful squad. They have done it without fear or fuss.

As reported by as.com, a 0-3 triumph at SD Logroñés in Las Gaunas underlined their momentum, with goals from Javi Sola, Gaizka Alboniga-Menor and Goñi.

Bittor Llopis’s side have ridden constant disruptions, including Youth League minutes and call-ups to Bilbao Athletic for Javi Sola, Alboniga-Menor, Unax Urzaiz, Belategi, Peciña and Haritz Conde. Selton Sánchez moved to the first team after starting at Artunduaga, and Manex Lozano departed on loan to Racing.

Newly promoted from Tercera Federación and averaging 19.4 years, the Basauri club have practically secured safety with four matches left, seven points clear of the play-out. Their second-half return shows six wins, six draws and one defeat, having risen from the relegation places.

Built to develop talent for Athletic, the collective has been sweetened by Alboniga-Menor’s burst, six goals in the last eight Basconia matches, none from penalties, after two outings with Bilbao Athletic.

In goal, Under-19 international Simón García Vicente continues his development. Ander Peciña leads the scoring with 9 in 30, while winger Haritz Conde has 8 in 17 for Basconia and 1 in 9 with Bilbao Athletic.
