SC Bastia have been handed a forfeit defeat to Red Star over the abandoned Ligue 2 game on 5 December. The club also received a one-point deduction, suspended, and a four-match closure of the East Petrignani stand.
Meeting on Monday evening, the LFP disciplinary commission delivered its ruling and said the punishment takes immediate effect.
Kick-off was delayed by two minutes while smoke from strobe devices in the penalty area cleared. The night saw widespread incidents, with 71 pyrotechnic devices, including 39 agricultural bombs, used in the stands to mark the club’s 120th anniversary and the opening of the new East stand for ultras. In the 57th minute at Stade Armand-Cesari, with the score 0-0, a flare landed on the pitch and struck Bradley Danger’s back and arm, causing a slight injury and the game was halted.
Despite recently amended regulations allowing a restart to complete matches, the commission chose not to resume play. It applied the same firm line as Bordeaux v Rodez on 2 June 2023, when Bordeaux were handed a forfeit after serious disorder and a replay was almost impossible because the season had ended.
Bastia are not expected to appeal.
