Bastia’s match with Le Mans was abandoned in stoppage time after fireworks and smoke bombs were thrown onto the pitch, leaving the visitors’ promotion celebrations on hold.

Milan Robin made it 2-0 at 90+1, a goal that sealed promotion on the night. Moments later, projectiles were launched from the opposite end by Bastia supporters and play was halted. L'Équipe reports that referee Ruddy Buquet cited player safety and said he alone was responsible for the decision.

With Le Mans keen to finish immediately, Buquet refused to restart and sent both teams to the dressing rooms. Stade Armand-Cesari emptied quickly, and after a short wait the players returned to the tunnel.

After spending several minutes in the delegate’s office, Buquet later confirmed in a press conference at 22:55 that the game was definitively stopped. No further details were provided.

The standings must be settled quickly because of the upcoming play-offs, and the competitions commission should meet. Le Mans must therefore wait to mark their return to Ligue 1.
