Germany U21s, with Frankfurt’s Noel Aseko and Elias Baum in the starting XI, retained their position at the top of Group F of European Under-21 Championship qualifying with a 4-0 win away to Latvia. Baum got 81 minutes of game time, while Aseko came off in the 69th minute. 

Japan’s U23s have reached the semi-finals of the Asian Games with a 1-0 win over North Korea. Keita Kosugi, who scored in the previous round against Thailand, remained on the bench this time.
