Alongside Jamie Leweling, Oliver Baumann was one of two German debutants to start for Germany in Monday's 1-0 win over the Netherlands.
Speaking to UEFA.com after the match, the 34-year-old Hoffenheim shot-stopper was emotional about the game he had just played.
“I'm very happy, proud and thankful. Happy to make my debut for the national team. To play for my country, I'm very thankful. The shots I saved weren't that easy, but I'm happy I could help the team,” Baumann said.
“The whole game is what will stay with me. We tried to play football, make short passes from the back. I could help the team with some saves.
"The whole match was incredible. I'm so thankful. The team spirit is top; everyone was fighting for the defence and in attack. It was a top, top match.”
