Baur completes Celtic switch | OneFootball

SC Paderborn have confirmed the departure of Mika Baur, who has joined Scottish champions Celtic.

The newly-promoted Bundesliga side will reportedly receive up to €8 million for the midfielder, making Baur the club’s new record sale.

Paderborn would have preferred to keep Baur, but agreed to the departure after he made it clear that he wanted to move to Scotland.

“As a key player from our promotion-winning season, we would actually have very much liked to keep Mika. When he expressed his desire to move to Celtic, we did not want to stand in his way, especially with less than a year remaining on his contract – on the condition that our SCP07 would also benefit from the move," said Paderborn managing director for sport Sebastian Lange.

"We intend to use the very good financial solution to further strengthen our squad before the end of the transfer window. We thank Mika for the trusting and successful time together and wish him all the best for the next chapter of his career.”

Baur made 33 appaerances in the 2. Bundesliga last season, scoring four goals and providing six assists.
